Cadillac has big ambitions for the years ahead, and one of the new models that will be particularly important to the American automaker’s strategy over the coming months is the new 2020 Cadillac CT5.
Unveiled earlier this month, the new 2020 Cadillac CT5 will make its official debut at the New York International Auto Show in a few weeks. Cadillac has nevertheless already provided a few details about its new luxury midsize sedan.
The CT5 will replace the Cadillac CTS, as well as the ATS. It will serve as the entry-level model in Cadillac’s luxury vehicle lineup and is expected to be offered with a starting price of around $45,000, although this has not yet been confirmed.
Visually, the CT5 borrows several design elements from the Cadillac XT4, including the headlights and grille. That said, when looking at the CT5 from the side, it looks more like the new, more luxurious CT6. We also notice the redesigned and distinctive C-pillar, unique to the Cadillac family. The styling of this pillar is expected to appear on several other Cadillac models in the future.
The 2020 CT5 will be offered in two versions: Premium Luxury and Sport. We do not yet know all the specifications for each version, but the Premium Luxury model will feature more chrome elements, while the Sport model will have more understated and sporty design elements.
A 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 237 horsepower will be standard. In fact, Cadillac has only confirmed the engine, not the power output. We can reasonably expect there won’t be significant differences from the current engine. The other option on the menu will be a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 404 horsepower.
